Ever since George W. Bush took office, many Americans have joked that Dick Cheney is the real president. Apparently, those Americans underestimated Cheney’s ambitions.

Some Americans joke that he's the real president, but Dick wants more. |
“I should be dictator,” Cheney was caught saying after a speech to Congress. He didn’t realize his microphone was still on as he spoke in a back room with a top-level aid. “With a President like Bush, if we didn’t have a constitution, I could really whip this country into shape,” he added.
The surprising statements came after Cheney told Congress that you can’t “run a war by committee.” Cheney’s address to Congress, combined with the President’s recent speech on Iraq, made it clear that Bush will ignore majority opinions in Congress, the wishes of the American people as well as the conclusions of the Iraq Study Group.
Cheney’s Press Secretary, Jennifer Millerwise, declined to discuss the Vice President’s comment about wanting to be a dictator. One White House official, who did not want to be identified, claimed that Cheney had also recently expressed respect for Kim Jong Ill.
According to the source, Cheney admired when Kim Jong Ill supposedly scored many holes in one despite playing on a golf course where even Tiger Woods could not drive a golf ball far enough to make it on the green.
Cheney imagined the possibilities if he were a real behind-the-scenes dictator when he mistakenly shot his friend while hunting. “Instead of reporting that I shot my friend, the media would have reported that I shot 79 quails in 2 hours,” Cheney said, according to the undisclosed White House official. “And America would be better for it.”
Vice President Dick Cheney is expected to go back underground to an undisclosed location where he can control President Bush without having to open his mouth.
